The Swim Instructor functions under the direction of the Aquatics and Massage Therapy Supervisor. Responsible for conducting Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons and leading Learn to Swim Classes for various skill levels. This person will instruct participants in swimming and safety skills in the water. They will assess clients' needs by evaluating their strength and ability in the water. Ideally, this team member will have knowledge of water safety and teach within standard guidelines of any held specialty certifications. If qualified, the Swim Instructor may lead aquatic exercise classes and conduct aquatic assessments as needed.
High school diploma or GED; currently enrolled in high school acceptable.
Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), BLS - Provisional, BLS - Instructor. Preferred certifications include American Red Cross Lifeguard (within 60 days) and nationally recognized land and/or aquatic group exercise certifications.
Minimum 1-year experience preferred but training provided under supervision. Must demonstrate motivation for community outreach, excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills, and a healthy lifestyle. Ability to exercise judgment and initiative is essential.
