Job summary

British Swim School is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach lessons to children and adults starting from 3 months old, using our progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build confidence working with swimmers of varying abilities.

A focus on survival swimming and reducing drowning is central to the role. You will work with a supportive team, follow our curriculum, and maintain certifications while teaching in a dynamic aquatic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or in progress.
• Must be enthusiastic and comfortable around water.
• Previous life-guard or related training is a plus.
• Must complete all required British Swim School training.

Responsibilities

• Support the Aquatics Leader and/or Business Owner(s).
• Follow curriculum to ensure safe, competent lessons.
• Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Work in a water environment with moderate to high noise levels.

A Swim Instructor at British Swim School teaches swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3 months old using our fun, gentle and progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build your confidence and ability to work with a variety of swimmers and abilities. Having fun and interacting with our swimmers is an important part of the role! A strong focus is placed on providing survival swim techniques living out the British Swim School mission and making a big impact on decreasing drowning.

Your Typical Responsibilities:

• Support the Aquatics Leader and/or Business Owner(s)
• Follow British Swim Schools curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons and environment.
• Work evenings (3pm-7pm), weekends (8am- 1pm), and holidays as required by business needs.
• Maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 5 consecutive hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
• Enthusiastic personality.
• Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed!
• Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment.
• Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with children.
• Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred but not required.
• Customer service skills: 1 year preferred.
• Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (but can be obtained during training)
