Qualifications

• Must be over 16 years of age.
• Required certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
• Training can be provided for YMCA Swim Instructor certification.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons and prepares lesson plans according to YMCA standards.
• Builds effective relationships with parents and students.
• Maintains records and attends scheduled trainings.

Skills

Ability to instruct swimming techniques

Ability to lift small to average size child

Education

Some high school level education

CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification

Current YMCA Swim Instructor certification OR training provided

General Function

The Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

• At minimum, some high school level education (over 16+ years of age)
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen
• Current YMCA Swim Instructor certification OR training provided.

$300 Signing Bonus!

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons and prepares lesson plans according to YMCA.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with parents and students to connect and inform parents of each other and student’s accomplishments.
• Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and refers students and parents to other programs.
• Maintains records and attends meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Abilities & Skills

• Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
• Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
