Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA is seeking multiple Swim Instructors to support swimmers of various ages. You will teach stroke, water safety, and endurance, and work with preschool and school-aged children in a supportive environment.

Join a mission-driven team with flexible shifts. This part-time role requires 16+ and certifications; incentives include membership access and professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Strong interest in teaching preschool and school-aged children.
• First Aid and CPR/AED Certification (or obtain upon hire).

Somerset Hills YMCA is currently seeking multiple Swim Instructors to help swimmers of various ages and levels to build confidence in and around the water. We are looking for energetic individuals to support our mission in strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Hours

Various Shifts Available

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains a safe, instructional, and supportive environment
• Teaches students the principles of correct stroke, water safety, and swimming endurance
• Teaches group classes to preschool and school aged children
• Develops appropriate introduction to a variety of water sports/activities

Other duties

• Arrives to work five (5) minutes before shift starts
• Wear appropriate and professional uniform/attire
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• YSL and/or WSI certification (obtain upon hire)
• Blood borne Pathogens Training within 60 days of hire
• SH YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire
• SH YMCA New Staff Orientation Training within 90 days of hire

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Must have experience working with children
• Must have strong interest in teaching preschool and school aged children
• Experience with parent/child classes or willing to learn is a plus
• Must have First Aid and CPR/AED Certification (or obtain upon hire)
