Job summary

Oak Brook Park District is seeking a seasonal Deck Attendant to prepare and maintain the pool deck and facilities for daily operations. The role runs Labor Day through Memorial Day, Monday–Friday, 5:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with no weekend shifts.

Candidates must be 18+, dependable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities include greeting guests, safety checks, data tracking, emergency response readiness, and promoting pool rules.

Qualifications

  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
  • StarGuard Elite lifeguard license preferred (training available).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Job description

Seasonal, Non-Exempt Pay: $17.00-$19.00/hour

The Deck Attendant is responsible for preparing the aquatic facility for daily operations by ensuring the pool deck, amenities, and equipment are clean, organized, and ready for guests before opening. This seasonal position runs from Labor Day through Memorial Day and works Monday through Friday from 5:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with no weekend shifts. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Greet all customers as they enter the pool area – ensuring guest is 18 years old or older.
  • Complete a periodic walk through of the facility to ensure all areas and features areoperable and free of hazards.
  • Include a head count of usage for data tracking.
  • Respond in an emergency, utilizing the facility Emergency Operations Plan as needed.
  • Complete periodic chemical checks as needed for IDPH and internal record keeping.
  • If opening, complete a full facility opening checklist to ensure the facility is ready foruse, without hazards or concerns for water conditions prior to opening facility to guests.
  • Support and promote all pool rules and regulations.
  • Answer all incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department.
  • Assist all patrons with any questions regarding the facility and/or memberships.
  • Perform assignments that include but are not limited to clerical tasks and problemsolving.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills in all communications.
  • Communicate with pool manager and other staff in an appropriate and effective manneron a daily basis.
  • Appropriate dress is required as indicated in the Dress Code Policy.
  • Maintain a neat and safe working environment.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible and have a good working relationship with other staff.
  • Perform any duties as assigned by the Aquatic Manager, Superintendent of Aquatic andMaintenance Operations, Deputy Director or Executive Director.

Schedule & Hours:
  • Hours are available 5:15am - Noon every Monday-Friday from Labor Day through MemorialDay. Scheduled hours will vary based on availability and need.
  • Attendance at all in-service trainings and aquatic meetings required.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification required (training available)
  • StarGuard Elite lifeguard license preferred (training available)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
