Job summary

Michigan Sugar Company in Croswell, MI seeks a hands-on production operator to blend quality, safety, and logistics for dry and liquid sugar packaging, documentation, and shipping in compliance with SQF and GMP.

You will handle bulk sugar in trailers/railcars, run tote-filling, perform quality checks, use the computer daily for records and minor machine tweaks, and cross-train to mill operations, with emphasis on safety and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Production/manufacturing experience preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency; comfortable learning HMI/program changes.
• Knowledge of SQF and GMP requirements; prior quality systems experience preferred.
• Fork-truck training readiness and ability to maintain a valid fork truck license; willing to drive as needed.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fill and measure bulk sugar in trailers and railcars—meeting customer specs every time.
• Load and verify liquid sugar co-products using trailers and railcars.
• Run the sugar tote-filling system from setup through final checks.
• Complete required quality checks; record results and resolve issues with your team lead.
• Use computers daily for documentation and make minor programming adjustments at the machine when directed.
• Cross-train to operate the powdered sugar mill and consistently meet quality targets.
• Follow safe work practices and keep the area clean, compliant, and audit-ready.
• Pitch in on additional duties as production needs change.
