Job summary

Optimize Search Group seeks a hands-on software engineer to maintain a mature desktop app while expanding supporting web services and APIs. You will own features end-to-end, contribute to cloud migration, and work with experienced engineers on design and delivery.

You’ll help modernize applications, build CI/CD pipelines, and ensure reliability with monitoring and runbooks. Collaboration and problem-solving are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C#/.NET development experience, including building and consuming APIs.
• Experience with client–server applications and integrating desktop software with web services.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform and interest in cloud modernization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, source control, and modern workflows.
• Strong debugging and collaboration skills.
• Experience modernizing or integrating established applications with newer web or cloud-based technologies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop API endpoints and backend services using C#/.NET for desktop and web apps.
• Own medium-sized features from design through deployment and support.
• Contribute to modernization and cloud migration, including data migration and validation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD processes, automated testing, and container deployments.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands‑on software engineer to help maintain and modernize a mature desktop application while expanding its supporting web services and APIs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across application development, cloud technologies, DevOps, and modernization initiatives.

You’ll own features and improvements from development through deployment, contribute to cloud migration projects, and work closely with experienced engineers on technical design and delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and develop API endpoints and backend services using C#/.NET to support desktop and web applications. (25%)
• Take ownership of medium-sized features and enhancements from design through deployment and ongoing support. (20%)
• Contribute to application modernization and cloud migration initiatives, including service integration, data migration, and validation activities. (15%)
• Build and maintain CI/CD processes, automated testing, and containerized application deployments. (15%)
• Improve application reliability and observability through logging, monitoring, health checks, and related tooling. (15%)
• Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks while sharing knowledge and best practices with less‑experienced engineers. (10%)

• Familiarity with common cloud services such as application hosting, serverless computing, messaging, storage, secrets management, and application monitoring.
• Experience with Docker and exposure to Kubernetes or another container orchestration platform.
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or comparable technologies.
