Job summary

CLOVEHITCH in Hawaii is seeking qualified Swahili Medical Interpreters to support a client by providing professional interpretation services within a healthcare setting. Interpreters will facilitate accurate communication between medical staff and eligible individuals receiving care, ensuring understanding of medical diagnoses, treatment plans, and related healthcare discussions.

Qualifications

• Must have working proficiency (ILR 2+) in English and Swahili.
• May be required to obtain a T2, Public Trust clearance.
• Prior experience providing medical interpretation strongly preferred.
• Experience interpreting in healthcare settings preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks and credentialing processes, if applicable.
• Position open only to individuals authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete, and impartial in-person interpretation between healthcare providers and individuals receiving medical care.
• Facilitate communication of diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and general healthcare discussions.
• Serve as a liaison to ensure mutual understanding while maintaining professionalism and neutrality.
• Adhere to interpreter ethics, including confidentiality, accuracy, and impartiality.
• Accurately report hours worked and complete required documentation per contract.
