Atlas NextWave seeks a Senior Vice President of Thermal Power Development to lead origination, development, financing and execution of utility-scale and BTM thermal generation assets across Texas and key US growth markets.

The role builds and manages a multi-gigawatt pipeline of dispatchable generation projects, including natural gas-fired CCGT, simple-cycle, reciprocating engines, CHP, and hybrid storage solutions, with an emphasis on regulatory approvals and market interconnections.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in thermal power generation or related large-scale power infrastructure.
  • Proven track record developing, financing, acquiring, or executing gas-fired power projects (CCGT, simple cycle, peaking, CHP).
  • Experience managing full development lifecycle: site control, fuel strategy, permitting, environmental review, interconnection, contracting, and financial close.

  • Negotiate EPC contracts, LTSA agreements, fuel supply arrangements, and major commercial contracts.

Job description

Salary range: $325,000 - $375,000 + bonus + equity
About the Role:

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Thermal Power Development will lead the origination, development, financing, and execution of utility-scale and behind-the-meter (BTM) thermal generation assets supporting hyperscale data center, AI infrastructure, industrial, and large-load customers throughout Texas and key US growth markets.

This position will be responsible for building and managing a multi-gigawatt pipeline of dispatchable generation projects, including natural gas-fired combined cycle, simple-cycle peaking, reciprocating engine, and hybrid power solutions integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Responsibilities:
  • Originate, evaluate, and develop natural gas generation projects across ERCOT and other high-growth power markets.
  • Lead site selection, land acquisition, permitting, environmental review, and regulatory approvals.
  • Manage project development from concept through notice-to-proceed and commercial operation.
  • Oversee technology selection including:
  • Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT)
  • Simple Cycle Peaker Plants
  • Reciprocating Engine Facilities
  • CHP/Cogeneration Systems
  • Hybrid Thermal + Storage Solutions
  • Negotiate EPC contracts, LTSA agreements, fuel supply arrangements, and major commercial contracts.
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in thermal power generation, gas-fired generation development, IPP development, utility generation, or large-scale power infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated track record developing, financing, acquiring, or executing gas-fired power generation projects, including combined cycle, simple cycle, peaking, reciprocating engine, CHP, or cogeneration facilities.
  • Experience managing the full development lifecycle for thermal power projects, including site control, fuel supply strategy, air permitting, water sourcing, environmental review, grid interconnection, EPC contracting, OEM selection, LTSA negotiation, and financial close.
