Job description

With millions of diners, 60,000 restaurant partners and 25+ years of experience, OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG), is an industry leader with a passion for helping restaurants thrive. Our world-class technology empowers restaurants to focus on what matters most – their team, their guests, and their bottom line – while enabling diners to discover and book the perfect restaurant for every occasion.

Every employee at OpenTable has a tangible impact on what we do and how we do it. You’ll also be part of a global team and our portfolio of global metasearch brands. Hospitality is all about taking care of others, and it defines our culture.

Key Responsibilities

The SVP, People & Culture will arrive at an exciting point in OpenTable’s transformation and will work closely with the CEO and the rest of the executive leadership team to help steer the company into its next phase of ambitious growth from both a culture and business perspective.

Get ready to roll up your sleeves, because in this role you will:

  1. Be the expert on all things HR-related who can provide recommendations and guidance to the executive leadership team
  2. Help us prepare for the future through succession planning, leadership development, employee recognition and rewards programs, and more
  3. Cultivate a culture that attracts and retains top talent, as well as keeps employees engaged and growing once they join OpenTable
  4. Supercharge our efforts to create an inclusive workplace by furthering diversity, belonging, and inclusion efforts
  5. Make sure HR operations run like a finely oiled machine (compensation, benefits, systems, budgets) and that OpenTable is compliance with local laws and regulations
  6. Work with our Booking Holdings’ sister brands to share knowledge and best practices
  7. Set an example of mentorship and employee growth in your own department that can flow to the rest of the company
Professional Experience/Qualifications

The ideal SVP of People & Culture blends pragmatism and drive with emotional intelligence and curiosity. You’re a strong communicator who can switch between speaking to the executive team and the company at large—while inspiring both. You approach challenges with professionalism, curiosity, and a dash of start-up scrappiness; you can judge when a process is working but are willing to start from scratch when it’s not. And most importantly, you can serve as a leader, a partner, or a mentor when the need arises, and have the ability to recognize which role is needed at any given time. Beyond that, we’re looking for someone with:

  1. Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role, preferably as a Chief People Officer or similar, with a mix of start-up and corporate experience preferred
  2. Experience advising executive teams using a data-driven approach
  3. The ability to run a tight ship from a budget and process perspective
  4. A mind for business and the ability to align HR strategies with the overarching objectives using data as your guide (must love numbers!)
  5. Genuine passion for improving employee experience and fostering a culture of continuous growth
  6. Someone who can navigate organizational change with ease
  7. Encyclopedic knowledge of employment laws and regulations in the US and international locations
  8. A real commitment to diversity, belonging, and inclusion with the record to back it up
Benefits and Perks

Work from (almost) anywhere for up to 20 days per year

Focus on mental health and well-being:

  1. Company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth
  2. Company-paid subscription to HeadSpace
  3. Company-wide week off a year - the whole team fully recharges (and returns without a pile-up of work!)
  4. Paid parental leave
  5. Generous paid vacation + time off for your birthday

Focus on your career growth:

  1. Access to thousands of on-demand e-learnings
  2. Travel Discounts
  3. Employee Resource Groups
  4. Free lunch 2 days per week
  5. Convenient downtown SF office location close to the Montgomery MUNI and BART stations.
  6. Building amenities, such as a gym, dog policy, & bike parking

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this remote United States based role is $300,000-$320,000.

In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible for additional compensation and benefits including: annual cash bonus, equity grant; health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave and benefits.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At OpenTable, we aspire to be a workplace that fosters inclusion and reflects the diverse communities we serve. Hiring people with different backgrounds and perspectives is critical to innovation and to how we deliver great experiences for our users, partners, and teams. We strive to be an open and welcoming environment so that no matter who you are, you can be yourself.

We ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform job responsibilities, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request an accommodation(s).
