SVP, Finance Technology EngineeringOverview As the SVP of Finance Technology Engineering, you will lead a global team of engineers who are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering innovative solutions for Mastercard's finance functions. You will oversee the technology strategy, architecture, and execution of all finance systems, covering Billing, Financial Planning, Accounting, Settlement, Treasury, and Reporting and Analytics. You will collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to align the finance technology roadmap with the business objectives and customer needs. The role will be responsible for advancing Mastercard's Finance Technology organization toward an AI-first operating model by embedding intelligent automation, Agentic capabilities, and modern data platforms into core finance processes. This includes establishing MCP-enabled finance platforms, accelerating workflow automation, and enabling trusted human-AI collaboration to improve operational efficiency, decision quality, and business agility.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the global finance technology engineering organization, setting the vision, direction, and culture for the team.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of finance technology solutions, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with business requirements and expectations.
  • Define and implement the finance technology architecture, standards, and best practices, ensuring compliance with Mastercard's policies and regulations.
  • Partner with finance leaders and stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and opportunities, and provide strategic guidance and solutions to enable their success.
  • Drive the innovation and transformation of the finance technology portfolio, leveraging cloud, data, and automation technologies to enhance the customer experience, operational efficiency, and business agility.
  • Develop and manage the finance technology budget, resources, and vendors, ensuring optimal utilization and value delivery.
  • Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and diversity.
  • Drive the modernization of finance operations through AI-powered workflow enablement, leveraging Agentic solutions, intelligent automation, and autonomous orchestration capabilities to improve productivity, accuracy, decision velocity, and operational efficiency.
  • Define and execute the strategy for Agentic Finance, ensuring finance technology platforms can leverage AI agents for financial analysis, reconciliation, exception management, forecasting, reporting, and operational decision support while maintaining appropriate governance and controls.
  • Lead the adoption of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and related integration frameworks to securely expose finance systems, data products, business processes, and controls to enterprise AI platforms, enabling trusted human-agent collaboration across finance workflows.
  • Establish reusable finance capabilities, APIs, knowledge assets, and MCP-enabled services that accelerate the development of AI-powered experiences across Billing, Accounting, Treasury, Financial Planning, Settlement, and Reporting functions.
  • Partner with Enterprise Data & AI, Architecture, Risk, Compliance, and Finance leaders to ensure responsible adoption of generative AI, agentic systems, and intelligent automation, including governance, monitoring, security, explainability, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Champion the transformation of finance technology from transactional systems toward intelligent, context-aware platforms that provide proactive insights, recommendations, and workflow orchestration for business stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with proven track record of delivering complex and large-scale finance technology solutions.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in finance processes, systems, and domains, such as Billing, Financial Planning, Accounting, Settlement, Treasury, and Reporting and Analytics.
  • Strong experience and skills in cloud, data, and automation technologies, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, RPA, etc.
  • Deep data domain, curation, management, design, with the ability to design, implement, and optimize complex business processes and data models.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and trade-offs.
  • Exceptional leadership, management, and coaching skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower a diverse and distributed team of engineers.
  • Passionate about innovation, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle Financials, Oracle Cloud, Hyperion, and other leading financial software solutions a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements, with the ability to ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering large-scale, cross-functional, and transformational projects involving multiple stakeholders and systems, using agile methodologies and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and intelligent automation strategies within large-scale financial or regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI architectures, including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, knowledge graphs, semantic models, and AI orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience designing and governing AI-enabled business workflows, digital assistants, autonomous agents, and enterprise automation platforms with strong controls and risk management practices.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architectures, and emerging standards such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) for enabling secure interoperability between business systems and AI platforms.
  • Proven ability to leverage structured and unstructured data assets, master data, metadata, ontologies, and semantic business models to improve finance decision-making and AI effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of AI governance, model risk management, regulatory considerations, privacy controls, and security practices associated with deploying AI solutions in financial and highly regulated environments.
  • Experience building data-driven operating models that combine analytics, automation, and AI capabilities to optimize finance processes, forecasting, controls, and business performance.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
