Job summary

Music for Youth in the northwest suburbs of Chicago provides private lessons and group classes in seven elementary schools and two middle schools as part of District 25. Teach private lessons for 32 weeks from September to May, with optional summer teaching.

You may also conduct an orchestra and lead group classes at varying levels. Collaborate with other teachers, board members and school administration; attend student recitals and lead performances in the community.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred and Suzuki Books 1-6 registration.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with private and group teaching; public school teaching is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private lessons in the public schools (K-8) for 32 weeks (Sept-May).
  • Lead weekly group classes and possibly conduct an orchestra.
  • Provide parent education and collaborate with teachers, board, and school administration.
  • Attend student recitals and lead performances in the community.
  • Be reliable, punctual, flexible and well-organized; strong administrative skills required.
