About the Muriel Wright Recovery Center SUTS

The Muriel Wright Recovery Center SUTS helps people with active substance use issues to transition out of jail more effectively and begin the recovery process in a supportive environment. All services are mental health-informed, using approaches such as Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change to help engage people in treatment. SUTS services are heavily group-based to build community and support, and are based on the Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) curriculum, a SAMSHA Evidence-Based Practice. Additional services include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), relapse prevention, physical health screenings, etc. The Muriel Wright Recovery Center SUTS program is an ASAM Level 3.1 service and is operated under contract with Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department.

Shifts Available

10:00 am - 6:30 pm / 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm / 11:00 pm - 7:30 am / Varies as needed

On Call; Shift Hours and Days vary as needed

Compensation

Expected starting wage range is $21.38 - $25.76 Hourly. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges based on location. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Shift differentials for hourly staff include 6% for PM Shift, 10% for Overnight Shift. Weekend Shift differentials are 5% for Weekend AM, 11% for Weekend PM, and 15% for Weekend Overnight shifts.

Position Summary

The SUTS Coordinator provides daily care and support to members served, promoting a positive treatment experience. They serve as liaisons between members, their families, medical and mental health practitioners, and criminal justice agencies.

Essential Functions
  1. Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday language and contact with stakeholders.
  2. Ensures safety of members through monitoring, observation, and documentation.
  3. Documents member movements and provides transportation resources.
  4. Assists with admissions, discharges, and intake documentation.
  5. Drives program van and/or own vehicle for outings.
  6. Conducts rounds to ensure safety and participation.
  7. Assists with medication monitoring as assigned.
  8. Engages members in the program schedule and structure.
  9. Refers members to clinical support as needed.
  10. Schedules and transports members for appointments.
  11. Monitors and assists at mealtime.
  12. Participates in community meetings and groups.
  13. Collects urine samples as assigned.
  14. Creates a recovery environment through interactions.
  15. Demonstrates CPI principles and techniques.
  16. May conduct individual, group, and family sessions.
  17. Adheres to policies and protocols.
  18. Enacts safety procedures in case of assaultive behavior and crisis situations.

Position involves transporting members in a program van with an acceptable driving record.

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) certification approved by DHCS and NCCA.
  • Sensitivity to behavioral health issues and multicultural populations.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • CPR, CPI, and First Aid certifications within 60 days of employment, maintained throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of physical, TB test, background checks, and license verification.
  • Valid driver’s license, motor vehicle clearance, and proof of insurance, maintained throughout employment.
Preferred
  • One year of experience in drug/alcohol or mental health fields, including internships or volunteer work.
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, team-oriented and independent work ability.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of assessment tools and Harm Reduction Model.
Physical Demands

Requires sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 25 pounds), walking, standing, grasping, manual dexterity, driving, and exposure to hazards.
