Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a PCBA Manufacturing Engineer (Sustaining) to support production and continuous improvement of PCBAs across Industrial Compute hardware platforms. You will partner with Hardware Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and supply chain to resolve production issues and ensure high-volume manufacturing is stable.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in high-volume PCBA environments, with strong experience in SMT, PCB fabrication, and analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in high-volume PCBA manufacturing.
• Experience with SMT manufacturing, PCB fabrication, and electronic assembly.
• Strong understanding of process control, yield improvement, and statistics.
• Experience performing root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, or FMEA.
• Experience with contract manufacturers and global supply chains.
• Ability to read schematics, BOMs, drawings, and manufacturing docs.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and project management.

Responsibilities

• Own sustaining manufacturing engineering for PCBA production across platforms.
• Drive root cause investigations for defects, field failures, and escapes.
• Partner with Hardware Design Engineers to improve manufacturability (DFM/ DFA/ DFT).
• Support ECOs and manufacturing change implementation.
• Collaborate with contract manufacturers to improve yield, cycle time, and quality.
• Analyze manufacturing data to identify recurring issues and improvements.
• Develop CAPAs for manufacturing and supplier quality issues.
• Support failure analysis including electrical, functional, and process investigations.
• Improve documentation, work instructions, assembly processes, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with Test Engineering to improve production test coverage.
• Support supplier qualification, process validation, and design revision readiness.
• Travel to manufacturing partners as needed for production support.
