ViewRay Systems, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer for its Sustaining Team to keep cancer therapy systems operating at peak efficiency. The role emphasizes strong troubleshooting, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to medical device quality standards.

You will review equipment, develop test methods, and perform hands-on prototype work while coordinating with R&D, software, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely issue resolution and device reliability.

Qualifications

• BSEE or related degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in fast-paced engineering environments.
• Ability to grasp user/system requirements and translate into subsystem designs.
• Proficient in basic Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Must be able to work around strong magnetic fields.

ViewRay Systems’ Sustaining Team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to keep our novel cancer therapy systems operating at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate shares our enthusiasm for engaging in the best business practices while improving cancer therapy.

Responsibilities:

• Review installed equipment to find upgrades/replace obsolete components.
• Perform analysis and develop test methods that ensure the safe and effective operation of new or existing products.
• Perform hands‑on activities such as prototype assembly, installation, and testing.
• Follow the standards of our quality system, such as change control procedures.
• Provide technical support to external design and manufacturing partners.
• Participate in risk assessments and failure mode analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the medical device.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, software, quality, and manufacturing, to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
• Work closely with our Service team to ensure timely resolution of treatment disruptions.

Required Qualifications

• BSEE or other related degree
• 5 years’ experience in fast paced Engineering environments.
• Able to quickly grasp user level or system requirements and translate into subsystem requirements and designs.
• Proficient in basic Microsoft programs (i.e Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with medical device testing.
• Experience working with relevant medical device standards, like IEC 60601-1.
• Demonstrated technical leadership capability.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Able to travel 10% of time & lift 50 lbs.
