Job summary

Teknor Apex Company in Pawtucket, RI is seeking a Co-op- Technical Research Intern for Spring 2027 to support sustainable polymer technologies. You will work alongside experienced scientists and engineers in the lab to evaluate PHB stabilization and colorability, gain hands-on lab experience, and contribute to future product development.

This on-site, full-time co-op offers exposure to formulation preparation, data analysis, equipment maintenance, and presenting findings to the technical team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, or a related field
• Strong laboratory and analytical skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent documentation habits
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Interest in sustainable materials and polymer development
• Coursework in polymers, chemistry, or materials science
• Previous laboratory or research experience
• Familiarity with laboratory testing methods and instrumentation

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments related to PHB stabilization and colorability
• Prepare formulations and process polymer samples
• Collect, analyze, and document experimental data
• Assist with testing material performance and properties
• Present research findings and recommendations to the technical team
• Maintain laboratory equipment and follow all safety procedures
• Support ongoing R&D projects as needed
