Job summary

Sun Chemical is seeking a Packaging Sustainability Manager to lead the introduction and coordination of new packaging sourcing models while ensuring Meijer's sustainability and packaging requirements are integrated into product onboarding. You will collaborate with suppliers, commercial category teams, and the sustainability group to align with policies.

The role involves developing a comprehensive sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with packaging, wood & paper, and ethical sourcing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of structural packaging experience in FMCG/retail.
• Experience delivering projects and implementing new methods.
• Solid understanding of sustainability in retail and packaging.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Able to learn new IT systems and data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a packaging sustainability strategy across internal teams.
• Integrate packaging and sustainability requirements into onboarding of new products.
• Collaborate with Commercial Category Teams and suppliers for policy compliance.
• Verify packaging specs align with planned market routes.
• Conduct packaging testing and quality assessments.
• Support artwork processes to meet regulatory and brand requirements.
• Collect and verify packaging data, including composition, weights, and certifications.
• Maintain quality standards for packaging materials and sustainability initiatives.
• Identify suppliers needing Sustainability Team oversight.
• Deliver projects on schedule and build cross-functional relationships.
