Apple is seeking a technically grounded, experienced leader in sustainability and financial reporting, internal controls, and data management to support our cross‑functional, global regulatory reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will take on the ambitious work of improving our data collection systems and processes while managing key project timelines and crafting report narratives to drive results.

Description

Apple's Environment and Supply Chain Innovation team is seeking a Sustainability Reporting Specialist, Global Regulatory Disclosure, to support a growing portfolio of sustainability‑focused regulations — spanning climate and energy, human rights and labor, circularity, water use, and waste management. In this role, you will serve as the central program owner for environmental and social regulatory disclosures, coordinating inputs from global functions and ensuring clear ownership, timelines, risk escalation, and executive‑ready reporting updates. You will drive process improvements and enhance data structures while engaging subject matter experts across the organization in deeper technical conversations. You will build new processes, facilitate cross‑functional collaboration, and ensure our disclosures reflect Apple's progress on key environmental and social issues — all within structured work streams with clear owners, milestones, and accountability. The role collaborates across Operations, Legal, Finance, Government Affairs, Environmental Technologies, and other internal teams, as well as with external partners and consultants.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with sustainability, finance, and operations teams to establish data governance standards and define reporting requirements.
  • Advise partners on methodologies and governance models supported by Accounting and Finance best practices, including metrics accounting policies, estimation approaches, and disclosure controls and procedures.
  • Design, implement, and test internal controls for environmental and supply chain data collection, processing, and reporting to ensure information integrity.
  • Co‑develop efficient, well‑controlled process flows and quality controls across end‑to‑end business processes — from data sources through disclosures — leveraging AI tooling to optimize and scale these workflows.
  • Oversee the collection, management, and review of sustainability data, with a focus on environmental and supply chain metrics required under prominent global frameworks.
  • Coordinate across Finance, Legal, and Environment and Supply Chain teams prior to disclosure, resolving open questions and providing regular updates to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Craft timely, high‑quality responses to global environmental and social regulatory disclosures, including narrative content that meets regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Legal, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in sustainability, environmental reporting, labor and human rights, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi‑stakeholder projects with cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience engaging with and presenting to senior leaders on regulatory and reporting topics, with proficiency in Keynote or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with reporting software and disclosure frameworks such as Workiva and XBRL.
  • Extensive knowledge of global sustainability and financial regulations, including ISSB, CSDDD, CSRD, and ESRS frameworks.
  • Strong data management, analysis, and report writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or legal/regulatory background.
  • Experience spanning financial reporting, internal controls, audit, risk management, and sustainability reporting.
  • Experience leading climate scenario analysis or other risk‑focused frameworks.
  • Experience managing project planning, timeline estimation, issue tracking, and cross‑functional documentation.
  • Experience conducting audits and working with third‑party auditors or regulatory bodies.
  • Proven track record developing and implementing sustainability disclosure strategies in compliance with environmental regulations.
