Job summary

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is seeking a Sustainability Manager to coordinate its internal sustainability strategy and operations in Washington, DC. This role will lead the execution of the ACS sustainability business plan while overseeing sustainability reporting and carbon accounting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability management with at least 8 years of experience, along with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. The position offers a hybrid working schedule and a competitive compensation package, ranging from $85,000 to $105,000 annually.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience with a minimum 3 years of experience in sustainability management.
• Experience with carbon accounting software and Scope 1–3 inventories.
• Familiarity with lifecycle analysis (LCA) methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate execution of the ACS internal sustainability plan across departments.
• Oversee Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas inventories.
• Lead development of sustainability reports aligned with recognized frameworks.
