Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park is seeking a Sustainability Outreach Associate to support outreach and communications programs aimed at residents in campus housing and Greek life, with engagement of faculty, staff, and off-campus students.

The role involves coordinating events, trainings, and content for social media, newsletters, and websites; mentoring interns and volunteers; and promoting a culture of sustainability across campus, with evening/weekend flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• One year of experience in assisting with the development, implementation, or marketing of sustainability programs.
• Additional work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis for up to four years.
• Knowledge of environmental and sustainability programs.
• Knowledge of best practices in project management.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
• Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

• Supports outreach and communications programs engaging students in residence halls and Greek life.
• Assists with outreach to faculty, staff, and off-campus students.
• Trains, mentors, and supports interns, ambassadors, volunteers, and student leaders.
• Supports communications efforts such as social media, newsletters, websites, and articles.
