Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience; 5-7+ years for lead or manager positions, with sustainability reporting experience in construction.
• Strong data analysis, knowledge of green building standards, and familiarity with Procore or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sustainability data collection, validation, and analysis across projects.
• Lead project-level reporting on site environmental impacts and efficiency measures.
• Manage documentation and submission for LEED and Green Globes certifications.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental laws and standards.
• Collaborate with PMs, superintendents, trade partners, procurement, and engineering to improve data quality.
• Prepare and present sustainability reports to clients.
• Conduct site audits and monitoring to verify performance and data accuracy.
• Identify risks and opportunities for low- and zero-carbon technologies.
• Provide training and support on sustainable construction practices.

The Sustainability Project Manager for a Yates Construction is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive sustainability reporting processes across all construction projects. This role ensures accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, green building standards, and client requirements. The lead will drive the integration of sustainable practices into project execution and communicate the company's sustainability achievements to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sustainability Data Management: Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of sustainability data specific to construction projects, including materials, fuel, water, energy, and waste
• Project-Level Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely reporting on sustainability performance for individual construction projects, addressing aspects like site environmental impacts, material sourcing, waste diversion rates, and energy/water efficiency measures.
• Green Building Certification Support: Manage documentation, credit tracking, and submission processes for green building certifications such as LEED and Green Globes for construction projects.
• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all construction projects comply with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site superintendents, trade partners, procurement, and engineering teams to integrate sustainable practices into project planning and execution and to optimize data quality for reporting.
• External Communication: Prepare and present sustainability reports to clients.
• Site Audits & Monitoring: Conduct site assessments, field observations, and audits (e.g., IAQ auditing) to monitor sustainability performance and data accuracy at construction sites.
• Risk & Opportunity Identification: Identify sustainability risks and opportunities within construction projects, advising on low- and zero-carbon technologies and renewable energy assessments.
• Training & Support: Provide training and support to project teams and trade partners on sustainable construction practices and reporting requirements.

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field.

Experience:

• Generally, 3+ years of industry experience, with 5-7+ years often required for lead or manager positions, including specific experience in sustainability reporting for construction projects.
• Proven project management experience within the construction industry is highly valued.
• In-depth knowledge of green building design, sustainable construction practices, and energy efficiency techniques.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation and regulations pertinent to construction.
• Expertise in various sustainability reporting platforms (e.g., Procore, EC3)
• Experience in implementing and administering sustainability programs at project sites.

Certifications (Highly Advantageous):

• LEED AP certification
• Green Globes Professional

Technical Skills:

• Strong data analysis and statistical evaluation skills, particularly with large datasets.
• Knowledge of low- and zero-carbon technologies and renewable energy systems applicable to construction.
• Proficiency in construction documentation and processes.
• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), data visualization tools, and relevant sustainability software applications.

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences, including clients, project teams, and senior leadership.
• Proven project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including subcontractors and suppliers.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
