Madison Hunt is partnering with a global investment manager to hire an Equity Research professional into their Sustainability function in New York. This is a fundamental research and data-focused position, though not sat with the investment team, with priority candidates from sell-side equity research.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, asset management or a rigorous analytical role within financial services.
  • Strong fundamental company and sector research capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with financial modelling experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, companies and capital markets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Genuine interest in sustainable investing and applying sustainability factors in investment research.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed company, industry and sector research.

  • Build and maintain models, datasets and analytical tools.
  • Produce clear written research and company assessments for senior investment professionals.

Job description

Madison Hunt is partnering with a global investment manager to hire an Equity Research professional into their Sustainability function in New York. This is a fundamental research and data-focused position, although crucially, not sat with the investment team, although priority candidates will come from sell-side equity research positions.

The focus will be on candidates with strong research training, advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work under demanding timelines. The successful candidate will conduct company and sector research, analyse financial and sustainability-related data, build analytical models and tools, and assess how material sustainability factors may affect company performance, investment risk and long-term outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct detailed company, industry and sector research.
  • Analyse financial statements, company disclosures and large financial and sustainability datasets.
  • Build and maintain models, datasets and analytical tools.
  • Produce clear written research and company assessments for senior investment professionals.
  • Assess sustainability-related factors through a fundamental investment and financial materiality lens.
  • Conduct comparative and portfolio-level analysis across companies and sectors.
  • Support company engagement, stewardship and other investment research projects.
  • Work closely with colleagues across investment, research and other relevant functions.

Candidate profile:

  • Approximately 2-5 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, asset management or another rigorous analytical role within financial services.
  • Strong fundamental company and sector research capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with financial modelling experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, companies and capital markets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to take direction, respond well to feedback and operate effectively within a lean team.
  • Low ego, highly accountable and willing to take ownership of detailed analytical work.
  • Genuine interest in sustainable investing and the application of sustainability factors within investment research.
