Job summary

Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform. This Methodology role is technical, hands-on, and highly collaborative, translating sustainability science and regulatory requirements into robust product logic.

You will work with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to keep methodologies current and auditable. This applied science position requires a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field and 5+ years in corporate sustainability; proficiency with Python and clear communication

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in climate science, environmental science, sustainability, industrial ecology, or another quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in corporate sustainability, sustainability consulting, carbon accounting, climate strategy, or a related field.
• Systems thinker who can navigate interconnected sustainability and business systems.
• Deep knowledge of GHG accounting standards and reporting frameworks (GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Scope 3; ESRS familiarity is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve Watershed's built-in sustainability methodologies.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to design rigorous, auditable features.
• Review methodology implementations and contribute technical specifications and tests.
• Interpret evolving standards (GHG Protocol, reporting frameworks) for product reflection.
• Investigate complex customer questions at the intersection of science, data, and business context.
• Balance scientific rigor with usability and auditability in real-world data contexts.
• Explain methodology choices to customers, auditors, and stakeholders.
• Help set and document internal methodology standards.
