Job Summary

Sustainability as applied to the engineering and construction industry encompasses eco-design, environmentally friendly construction, energy and water efficiency, low impact materials, decarbonization as well as stakeholder and community engagement, and creation of local economic opportunities and social value. This position will support Bechtel sustainability managers and project teams in collecting data, communicating, driving best practices and innovation, and focusing on how to better quantify and communicate the benefits of sustainability and decarbonization efforts.

Reports to: GBU Sustainability Manager

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.

Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the GBU sustainability core metrics collection, data quality and presentation across projects and by Business Line, and supports their continuous improvement.
  • Supports reporting and analysis of greenhouse emissions (Scope 1, 2 & 3) measurement and reporting, including data compilation, verification and assurance – of projects for internal performance monitoring, and required disclosures.
  • Performs data management and analysis and prepares reports, presentations, and trend analysis, including monitoring and evaluation of low carbon initiatives
  • Capture past and present sustainability project experience and accomplishments for internal communications as well as for use in tenders, external communications and qualifications, working closely with the external communications group and project teams.
  • Supports proposals and project workshops in carbon opportunities analysis and emissions estimates
  • Identifies and proposes tools and databases to support prospects with area, project or theme and trend
  • Supports the GBU and Regional Sustainability Managers to define analytic needs to support proposal and stakeholder interest including use of new digital tools
  • Supports the relationship between the Infra Innovation team and Sustainability team, and implementation of pilots as requested.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills: Degree in data science, mathematics, policy, social science or other relevant field with 5 years of relevant work experience, Good advanced analytical and data management skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, R, Stata, and/or SPSS, Solid statistical methods background, Knowledge of climate change, carbon management and climate resilience, Knowledge of sustainable development concept and frameworks, Good written and oral communications skills, Proficient in presentation of data analysis and visualization, Able to work independently and as part of a team, Competency using large databases and datasets (SQL, Oracle Database, SAP HANA) preferred, Experience with AI tools for data analysis (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake) a plus.
