A large engineering firm in Reston is seeking a part-time sustainability coordinator to assist in collecting and analyzing data related to sustainability metrics. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in data management tools like Excel and Power BI. Sustainability as applied to the engineering and construction industry encompasses eco-design, environmentally friendly construction, energy and water efficiency, low impact materials, decarbonization as well as stakeholder and community engagement, and creation of local economic opportunities and social value. This position will support Bechtel sustainability managers and project teams in collecting data, communicating, driving best practices and innovation, and focusing on how to better quantify and communicate the benefits of sustainability and decarbonization efforts.
Reports to: GBU Sustainability Manager
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills: Degree in data science, mathematics, policy, social science or other relevant field with 5 years of relevant work experience, Good advanced analytical and data management skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, R, Stata, and/or SPSS, Solid statistical methods background, Knowledge of climate change, carbon management and climate resilience, Knowledge of sustainable development concept and frameworks, Good written and oral communications skills, Proficient in presentation of data analysis and visualization, Able to work independently and as part of a team, Competency using large databases and datasets (SQL, Oracle Database, SAP HANA) preferred, Experience with AI tools for data analysis (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake) a plus.
