Job summary

Watershed is seeking a customer-focused Sustainability Data Advisor to join our San Francisco or New York office on a fixed-term basis, starting December 2026. Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in a consulting, solutions-engineering or other customer-facing role.
• Experience in sustainability-related fields, greenhouse gas accounting and/or ESG reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communicator; able to explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Learn quickly and work well in ambiguity; organized, systematic and efficient in a high-volume environment.
• Think clearly about complex problems and are comfortable using and speaking to data; meticulous and detail-obsessed.
• Passionate about solving climate change and excited to contribute at a fast-paced startup.

The role

We are looking for a customer-focused and analytically-minded person to join the Sustainability Data Advisory team in our San Francisco or New York office on a fixed-term basis, starting in December 2026. This is a chance to join a core team at a growth-stage startup that works with the world's top companies to speed up their sustainability programs. You'll work directly with customers as a trusted advisor, leading measurement sessions and delivering advisory services that unlock the full value of our platform. You'll help customers get clear, reliable insight into their sustainability impact and reach their sustainability goals.

You will:

• Advise sustainability teams at many of the world's top companies. You'll work directly with customers on how to measure actionable carbon and non-carbon footprints to reach sustainability goals and enable real reductions. The work ranges from scoping new measurements to in-depth methodology comparisons between footprints.

• Deliver services that speed up customer success. You'll help customers set up their measurements to meet sustainability goals, act as a trusted partner in emissions verifications, and give specialized advice to improve their data and methodologies. You'll make sure customers get the most out of Watershed's platform, faster and more effectively than they could on their own.

• Collaborate with science, engineering and product teams to build new measurement solutions and expand Watershed's sustainability intelligence layer.

You might be a fit if you:

• Have 2–4 years of experience in a consulting, solutions-engineering or other customer-facing role. You are excited to work directly with customers to help them set the foundation for world-class sustainability programs.

• Have experience in sustainability-related fields, greenhouse gas accounting and/or ESG reporting.

• Are an excellent verbal and written communicator. You can explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Learn quickly and work well in ambiguity. You are organized, systematic and efficient, and you thrive in a high-volume environment.

• Think clearly about complex problems and are comfortable using and speaking to data. You are meticulous and detail-obsessed.

• Are passionate about solving climate change and excited to help do so at a fast-paced startup.

Fixed-term details

• Minimum commitment of 4 months, with a possible extension of up to 3 more months.

• Fixed-term employees receive compensation and benefits similar to full-time Watershed employees, including daily lunch delivered in the Watershed office.

• This role is required to be in our San Francisco or New York office 4 days per week.

Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles)

Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.
