Essential Tasks for the Sustainability Consultant
- Project Development
- Engage with stakeholders and supply chains to implement sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain communication with external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and foster strong relationships.
- Support external stakeholders in meeting sustainability requests.
- Use procurement data to enhance traceability and develop strategies for supply chain engagement.
- Evaluate opportunities for alignment between Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) programs and responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Report key achievements and project milestones to local management and relevant project teams.
- Conduct sustainability assessments for clients, evaluating environmental impacts.
Business Development
- Collaborate with internal teams to share knowledge and deliver cohesive service offerings.
- Assist in planning and executing meetings, workshops, and webinars to enhance company services.
- Support both daily activities and strategic initiatives within the team.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel within the US and internationally, up to 30%.
- Proof of US citizenship or valid work visa.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work well in teams and communicate across diverse environments.
- Solid understanding of sustainability principles, especially in agriculture.
- Strategic thinking with problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in collaborating with peers and leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to company culture.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with excellent time management.
- Communication: Clear conveyance of information to diverse audiences.
- Initiative: Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of agricultural supply chains and sustainability standards (e.g., FSA by SAI Platform).
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Familiarity with MRV systems and mass balance approaches is a plus.
