The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Suspense Specialist in our Submissions Processing Division (SPD). SPD receives and processes taxpayer submissions consistently, efficiently, and effectively, while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of that data. The submissions processed annually by SPD account for well over 90% of total revenues collected and more than 11 million tax returns processed by the Agency.

Salary Grade: NC08 This is a full time In-state Remote position.
The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Suspense Specialist in our Submissions Processing Division (SPD). SPD receives and processes taxpayer submissions consistently, efficiently, and effectively, while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of that data. The submissions processed annually by SPD account for well over 90% of total revenues collected and more than 11 million tax returns processed by the Agency.
SPD is organized into three sections: Electronic Submissions, Paper Submissions, and Staffing Administration. This position is in our Electronic Submissions section and the key responsibility of this position is to timely post suspended paper and electronic documents to taxpayer accounts. The employee will utilize current Desk Instructions (DIs) to determine the appropriate steps necessary to make corrections that will allow an item to post to the taxpayer's account. There are established current DIs for use in researching and resolving the various suspense reasons. Performance goals are in place for the expected number of suspended items to be worked as well as the acceptable error rate.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies
- Proficient in using a personal computer including Microsoft and mainframe applications
- Intermediate keying and typing skills are required with experience using an adding machine
- Experience with the ability to analyze, problem solve, and interpret data leading to appropriate actions with processing tax returns
- Ability to meet and maintain work performance standards for quality and quantity
- Knowledge of general office procedures, methods, and practices are required with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in a group setting or while working independently
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
