Job description

Bring your love for sushi, and we'll teach you the rest! In this role, you will help prepare fresh, high-quality sushi rolls to be sold in our store, as well as assist customers with made-to-order or special requests. You will work alongside experienced sushi chefs, learning traditional techniques and perfecting your craft in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare ingredients, including slicing fish, cutting vegetables, and making sushi rice.
  2. Assist in making sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
  3. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  4. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely preparation.
  5. Uphold excellent food presentation and customer satisfaction.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements including forceful pinching and gripping, as well as awkward and forceful postures of the wrist, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting. Continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment is required. Items lifted typically weigh 5–20 pounds, with a maximum of 50 pounds rarely needed. Moderate to high upper extremity repetition and moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting are involved. The environment is indoors, with exposure to cold temperatures (33–55°F) and proximity to hot equipment (>135°F). Basic tools include common kitchen utensils, rice cooker, fryer, wrapping equipment, and packaging supplies. Exposure to potential allergens is possible.

Food preparation experience is preferred, with a background in culinary arts or as a prep cook/apprentice cook being advantageous.
