Job Title: Sushi Clerk

General Function

As a Sushi Clerk, you will be responsible for filling customer orders, handling food safely, ordering and receiving products, ensuring accuracy, and labeling, dating, and storing products. You will also provide courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to enhance the shopping experience.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, Service Managers. No positions report to you.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, demonstrating care, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Greet customers with a smile and assist them in finding products or performing tasks to enhance their shopping experience.
• Answer phone calls promptly and courteously, taking customer orders when necessary.
• Take customer orders at the Chinese Express counter.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain a pleasant work environment.
• Maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness of the work area.
• Ensure food freshness and adequate supply, preparing and replenishing products as needed.
• Handle product movement, including pulling from coolers/freezers and putting away received products.
• Adhere to company policies and attend scheduled work shifts punctually.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Wash dishes as needed.
• Order supplies and price products for customers.
• Deliver orders and assist in other store areas as required.
• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
• Basic math skills including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and demonstrated instructions, and communicate effectively.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent, Food Safety Certification, and at least six months of related experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from close to more than 20 feet, with or without correction, including depth perception and field of vision.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Exposure to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals. Fast-paced environment with significant pressure.

Equipment Used

Scale, shrink wrap machine, Telexon re-ordering machine, walk-in cooler, knives, and serving cases.

Contacts

Daily contact with internal customers and the public; weekly contact with suppliers/vendors; occasional contact with regulatory agencies.
