A student nurse apprentice assists the registered nurse in the practice of professional nursing by providing direct patient care to promote patient comfort and facilitate the performance of diagnostic and treatment procedures as outlined the patient’s plan of care. Works under the direct supervision of the primary RN. Maintains patient confidentiality. Works within the scope of practice and educational preparation. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Current program enrollment in an Alabama Board of Nursing approved nursing educational program that has a nurse apprentice partnership with East Alabama Health.
Completion of foundational clinical nursing semester.
Has obtained approval and basic competency validation of Board approved nursing skills from the nursing educational program.
