Job Title: Utility Data Technician

Job Summary

Creates and maintains utility data files. Collects field data of underground utilities and surface features within campus lands. Prepares accurate maps for the campus GIS system.

Responsibilities

1. Operate advanced surveying instruments (GPS, EDM, LiDAR, drones) to collect location data.
2. Support surveying team by operating field equipment and marking utility lines.
3. Maintain detailed records and transfer data into GIS, updating points, lines, polygons, and attributes.
4. Coordinate utility data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
5. Participate in quality control of survey data and record drawings.
6. Assist with other campus surveying tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of map drawing and surveying/drafting experience or equivalent education. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and operate surveying equipment. Effective communication skills. Experience with computers and CAD preferred.

Preferences

• 1-3 years of related experience; combinations of education and experience considered.
• Experience with surveying equipment and GIS software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
