Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated GIS and Utility Surveyor to join our team in Tampa, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting utility surveys, collecting geospatial data, and integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies to enhance infrastructure mapping and asset management.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys to locate and map underground and overhead utilities.
  • Utilize GIS software to collect, analyze, and visualize spatial data.
  • Perform GPS and total station surveys for utility mapping and land surveys.
  • Process and interpret survey data for integration into GIS databases.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers on infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of surveyed utilities and update GIS datasets accordingly.
  • Adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines while conducting field surveys.
  • Utilize remote sensing and aerial imagery for enhanced spatial analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, maps, and presentations.
  • Provide GIS support and training to internal teams as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Geography, GIS, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Florida-specific surveying and utility regulations.
  • 2+ years of experience in utility surveying and GIS mapping.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with GPS equipment, total stations, and data collectors.
  • Knowledge of underground utility detection methods and technologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Certified Survey Technician (CST) certification
  • Ideally Someone with Civil CAD 3D and MicroStation experience
  • Understanding of “as-built” submittal requirements and Florida State Survey Standards
