Job summary

Cochran is seeking a Field Survey Technician to contribute to boundary, topographic, construction and route surveys. You will assist survey crews, collect accurate field data, and support project teams with data processing and office tasks as needed.

The role requires outdoor work, a valid driver’s license, dependability, and teamwork. Proficiency with GPS units, total stations, data collectors and basic AutoCAD knowledge are preferred. Cochran offers strong benefits and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist Survey Crew Chiefs with boundary, topographic, construction, and route surveys.
• Operate surveying equipment including GPS units, total stations, and data collectors.
• Set and recover survey monuments, stakes, and markers.
• Record and maintain accurate field notes and survey data.
• Assist in the collection and verification of field measurements.
• Transport, maintain, and care for survey equipment and vehicles.
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members, property owners, contractors, and clients when necessary.
• Support office staff with survey-related tasks and data processing as assigned.

Preferred

• 2-5 years of land surveying experience.
• Experience using Trimble GPS equipment, Total Stations, and data collectors.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD or survey-related software.
• Knowledge of surveying principles, terminology, and field procedures.
