Job summary

Triad Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician for our on-site team in St Albans, WV. You will support survey crews with field data collection, stakeout, and layout for engineering projects, working outdoors in varying conditions.

Qualifications

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Survey Technician role based in St Albans, WV. The Survey Technician will assist survey crews in conducting field work for topographic, boundary, ALTA, and construction-related surveys, using survey instruments and data collection equipment. Responsibilities include setting up and operating surveying equipment, collecting accurate field measurements, recording and organizing survey data, and assisting with stakeout and layout for engineering and construction projects. The role involves working outdoors in varying conditions, following safety protocols, and collaborating closely with surveyors, engineers, and other technical staff. The Survey Technician will contribute to efficient project execution by maintaining equipment, supporting quality control, and communicating clearly with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess skills in Topographic Surveys and Field Work to collect accurate site data and measurements.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Land Surveying and ALTA Surveys to support boundary, title, and property-related survey projects.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Building Surveying to assist with layout, construction stakeout, and structural measurements.
  • Familiarity with survey instruments (total stations, GPS, data collectors) and basic surveying software is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, and ability to interpret maps, plans, and legal descriptions are preferred.
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in diverse weather and terrain, lift and carry equipment, and follow established safety procedures is required.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and reliability, with a valid driver's license and clean driving record, are expected.
  • Relevant technical coursework or an associate degree in surveying, civil engineering technology, or a related field is beneficial; prior field surveying experience is a plus.
