Survey Technician / Senior Survey Technician (Staunton, VA)

The Survey Technician assists in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of land surveying by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Draft subdivision plats, boundary surveys, and easement plats.
• Prepare parcel descriptions.
• Prepare staking maps for subdivisions, infrastructure improvements, and site plans.
• Prepare cutsheets and construction take‑offs.
• Draft topographical surveys and create digital terrain models.
• Perform limited courthouse research.
• Submit plats for jurisdictional approval.
• Work closely with the project manager and group leader.
• May substitute in the field when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Requirements

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting & submittal requirements, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as trigonometry and geometry.
