Survey Technician / Senior Survey Technician (Staunton, VA)
The Survey Technician assists in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of land surveying by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft subdivision plats, boundary surveys, and easement plats.
- Prepare parcel descriptions.
- Prepare staking maps for subdivisions, infrastructure improvements, and site plans.
- Prepare cutsheets and construction take‑offs.
- Draft topographical surveys and create digital terrain models.
- Perform limited courthouse research.
- Submit plats for jurisdictional approval.
- Work closely with the project manager and group leader.
- May substitute in the field when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting & submittal requirements, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as trigonometry and geometry.
