Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a field survey assistant to support field crews in gathering data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will assist under a Crew Chief, operate survey instruments, and ensure accurate field notes and data collection.

The role requires basic surveying knowledge, one year of industry experience, and a valid driver’s license. Travel to project locations is possible; per diem is provided.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year industry experience.
  • Available to travel/stay out of town for work.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company MVR standards.

Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of land survey instruments to support a field crew in their daily operations to gather data for various surveys including boundary, topographic, and construction layout
  • Assist in completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief; communicate progress and address problems
  • Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels
  • Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations
  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
  • Complete neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief
  • Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies
  • Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle
  • Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices
  • Ability to travel out of state to project locations (Full Per Diem included)

Qualifications
