Job description

MEB is seeking a Survey Technician to support surveying operations on active construction projects. This role assists senior survey staff with field layout, data collection, and as-built documentation to ensure construction activities align with design drawings and specifications. The Survey Technician must be dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, field-based environment.

This position supports multiple projects and works closely with surveyors, project managers, superintendents, and field personnel. A strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork is required.

Core Areas of Responsibility
  • Assist with setup, operation, and maintenance of surveying equipment including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Support job layout, stakeout, control points, and as-built surveys under the direction of senior survey staff.
  • Perform vertical and horizontal measurements including elevations, offsets, and alignment.
  • Assist with monitoring existing and new structures for movement or deviations from design.
  • Collect as-built data and assist with preparation of drawings and reports for record documentation.
  • Maintain accurate field notes and electronic survey records.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and proactively identify potential hazards related to surveying activities.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to support surveying operations.
  • Maintain inventory and readiness of surveying tools and materials.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of construction site operations and safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with surveying equipment such as total stations and GPS systems.
  • Experience with surveying or CAD software.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift surveying equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
