Job summary

Pennoni is seeking a Survey Technician in Princeton, NJ for full-time, direct hire. The role supports the land surveying team by processing data and producing final deliverables, and provides office production support across survey activities under the Senior Survey Project Manager.

Responsibilities include data processing with Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D deliverables, QA of field products, and research of maps and records; occasional field work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher required.
• Prior experience in land surveying preferred.
• Proficient with CAD tools and engineering drawings.
• Strong math, geometry, and trigonometry skills.

• Monitor field crew production and provide QA support.
• Research historical maps, land records, prior surveys, and title reports.
• Prepare cadastral maps, existing-conditions plans, and plats from field and office data using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Perform initial quality control of field deliverables according to standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with supervisor to meet client requirements.
• Assist as a field technician to complete survey fieldwork.
• Maintain professional relationships with clients and coworkers.
• Follow established safety and security procedures.

Job description

We are hiring for a Survey Technician to join our team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Princeton, NJ. The Survey Technician supports the land surveying team by processing incoming data and producing final project deliverables. In this entry-level role, you will provide office production support across survey activities and assist both office and field staff under the direction of the Senior Survey Project Manager.

• Process survey data using Trimble Business Center and current CAD standards; evaluate accuracy and ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable professional standards under the direction of your supervisor and a licensed professional
• Monitor field crew production and provide quality assurance support
• Research historical maps, land records, prior surveys, and title reports
• Prepare cadastral maps, existing-conditions plans, and plats from field and office data using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Perform initial quality control of field deliverables in accordance with standards and best practices
• Coordinate with your supervisor to ensure client-specific requirements are met
• Assist as a field technician, as needed, to complete survey fieldwork
• Maintain professional, productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
• Follow established safety and security procedures

Basic Requirements

• High School Diploma or higher

Preferred Attributes

• Prior experience in land surveying, consulting, or the construction industry preferred
• Ability and willingness to learn survey operations, principles, and practices
• Working knowledge of engineering plans and construction documents
• Understanding of office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
• Strong computer and technical skills; AutoCAD or similar applications are a plus
• Proficiency in technical math, geometry, and trigonometry
• Basic oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

TARGET HOURLY RANGE: $20 - $40 (per year)
