Huitt-Zollars, Inc. seeks a Survey Technician for our Phoenix, AZ office. The role focuses on office-based surveying tasks, including calculations, CAD drafting, and processing ALTA/NSPS surveys, with collaboration across field and office teams.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in land surveying, PLSS knowledge, and a willingness to pursue LSIT while contributing to project efficiency and accuracy in a team setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of land surveying experience.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and the BLM Survey Manual.
• Highly motivated with a willingness to study for the LSIT test.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform office-based surveying tasks including calculations and CAD drafting.
• Assist in preparing survey drawings using AutoCAD.
• Review and process field survey data for office processing.
• Manage data transfers between field data collectors and office systems.
• Search public records for property boundaries.
• Ensure project schedules and productivity goals are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Survey Technician

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc. has an immediate full-time office Survey Technician opportunity in our Phoenix, Arizona office. The successful candidate will have office technical experience in all phases of land surveying, construction, and topographic surveying. HZ is a leading Architectural, Engineering and Surveying firm providing innovative planning, engineering, architectural design, land surveying, construction and program management, and design-build project delivery to our clients in the public and private sector. Duties:

• Independently perform office-based technical surveying assignments such as calculations, CAD based drafting, contour surface creation and processing, as well as processing and delivering ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Assist in the preparation of survey drawings using AutoCAD software. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center software and applicable platforms.
• Review and process the results of field survey data for office based technical processing.
• Review and process office data for field survey operations to facilitate the success of field operators including downloading and uploading survey data to data collectors and office computers.
• Search public records to obtain information about property boundaries and areas to be surveyed.
• Ensure schedules and productivity objectives set by a supervisor for survey projects are achieved.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
