Survey Technician

BL Companies is growing and looking for a Survey Technician to join our land surveying team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals starting their career in surveying to gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and techniques while working on meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist with the preparation of survey maps and plans from field-collected data
  2. Support field crews by processing field notes and sketches
  3. Perform basic data entry and editing using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  4. Help interpret deed descriptions and plot property boundaries under supervision
  5. Learn to create Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and generate contours
  6. Follow company CAD standards and assist with maintaining drawing consistency
  7. Work collaboratively with survey and engineering staff in a team environment
Qualifications
  1. Associate’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; relevant coursework or field experience may be considered
  2. 0-4 years of experience in land survey
  3. Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D a plus
  4. Basic understanding of land surveying concepts and terminology
  5. Willingness to learn new software and tools, including MicroStation and Leica Infinity
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  7. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  8. Ability to lift 25 pounds
