J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician in Meridian, Idaho. You will support office production, field operations, and the preparation of survey deliverables while collaborating with Professional Land Surveyors and a team of survey professionals.
The role offers training opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to transportation, municipal, and civil infrastructure projects. Prior survey experience is valued but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities
- Support Professional Land Surveyor(s) and field staff with office production and survey deliverables.
- Assist with records research, deeds, plats, easements, and right-of-way documents.
- Prepare field information packages, staking notes, maps, and project documentation.
- Perform construction staking calculations for municipal and civil projects.
- Process field data using Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D.
- Assist with drafting topographic surveys and base mapping.

The purpose of J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. (J-U-B) is “Helping Each Other Create Better Communities.” We foster a teamwork environment to solve problems that improve society while providing employees growth opportunities. We are recruiting for a Survey Technician to work in our Meridian, Idaho office.
This position is intended for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who wants to build a career in land surveying. The successful applicant will support office production, field operations, construction staking calculations, survey data processing, records research, and preparation of high-quality survey deliverables while working closely with Professional Land Surveyors, experienced survey technicians, field personnel, and project teams.
Previous survey experience is valuable, but it is not required for the right candidate. J-U-B will provide training and mentorship to help develop a well-rounded survey professional who understands how field information is collected, processed, analyzed, and documented. This position will support transportation, municipal, land development, aviation, water/wastewater, and other civil infrastructure projects.

This is primarily an office-based technical position with opportunities to assist in the field as project needs require. The ideal candidate is curious, dependable, comfortable working with technical information, and committed to continuous professional growth within the surveying profession.
- Support Professional Land Surveyor(s), senior survey technicians, and other survey team members with office production, field operations, and preparation of survey deliverables.
- Assist with records research, including surveys, deeds, subdivision plats, easements, right-of-way documents, BLM/GLO materials, and other supporting records.
- Assist with preparation of field information packages, staking notes, control information, maps, exhibits, and project documentation.
- Assist with construction staking calculations for municipal, transportation, land development, utility, and other civil infrastructure projects.
- Download, organize, and process field data using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GNSS workflows, point coding, and established J-U-B procedures.
- Assist with drafting topographic surveys, existing conditions base mapping, exhibits, and surfaces using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, construction staking, subdivision plats, Records of Survey, easement exhibits, right-of-way exhibits, and survey control networks.
- Communicate with field personnel regarding project information, control, staking needs, field notes, and documentation requirements.
- Perform routine closures, dimension verification, point coding reviews, drafting checks, and other quality-control tasks under the direction of experienced survey staff.
- Assist with maintaining organized digital and physical survey files.
- Coordinate underground utility locate requests and assist with preparation of field assignments when needed.
- Collaborate with in-house engineers, project managers, field personnel, and survey professionals across J-U-B offices.
- Assist with field work when project needs require, including survey data collection, monument recovery, construction staking support, and field verification.
- Follow established safety, quality-control, and documentation procedures while developing sound professional judgment and technical independence.
- Previous land surveying, civil drafting, construction, engineering, GIS, or related technical experience is preferred, but not required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical training, college coursework, or surveying-related education preferred.
- Interest in developing skills in records research, survey data processing, construction staking, boundary procedures, and preparation of survey deliverables.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, surveying equipment, or related technical software is beneficial, but not required.
- Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to organize technical information.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Professional Land Surveyors, field personnel, engineers, project managers, and other technical staff.
- Ability to take direction, follow established procedures, manage assigned tasks, and contribute in a team environment.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to assist with field work when required, including physically demanding work in varied terrain and weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when project schedules require.
- Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to quality, accuracy, professional growth, and continuous improvement in the delivery of professional surveying services.
- Additional beneficial experience includes operating UAV/drone platforms, LiDAR or point-cloud processing, GNSS workflows, and FAA Part 107 certification.
