Job summary

J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. in Meridian, Idaho is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to lead and deliver high-quality survey services for transportation, municipal, land development, aviation and other civil infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be technically strong, collaborative, growth-oriented and prepared to develop into a broader leadership role within the firm. Responsibilities include project management, mentoring, client engagement, and cross-office collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Current Idaho Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain Idaho licensure within 6 months.
  • 8–15+ years of survey experience with project management and coordination experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
  • Experience managing multiple complex survey projects with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Strong organizational, mentoring, and team-support skills.
  • Proven client interfacing and long-term relationship development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across engineers, managers, field crews, agencies, and clients.
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather and various terrains.
  • Beneficial: drone operations for topographic surveying, LiDAR, geodetic networks, bathymetric surveying.

Responsibilities

  • Manage survey projects from office and field teams.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to survey staff.
  • Coordinate with field crew manager during projects.
  • Assist with proposals, scope development, labor estimates, scheduling, budgeting and closeout.
  • Prepare and review boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys, staking, and control networks.
  • Prepare legal descriptions for properties, roads, easements, and rights-of-way.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble B.C., GNSS workflows to deliver accurate projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and other survey professionals across offices.
  • Support client relationships, meetings, agency coordination and business development.
  • Represent company professionally to agencies, clients and partners.
  • Travel to survey sites and other offices as needed.

We are recruiting for a Professional Land Surveyor to work in our Meridian, Idaho office. This position is intended for a professional surveyor who is technically strong, collaborative, growth-oriented, and interested in developing into a broader leadership role over time. The successful applicant will work closely with experienced survey leadership while helping deliver high-quality survey services for transportation, municipal, land development, aviation, water/wastewater, and other civil infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do

While applying technical land surveying knowledge and skills, this position will:

  • Perform survey project management duties and responsibilities in the office, working with survey and project teams.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to survey team members and support the continued development of technical staff.
  • Coordinate with field crew manager and crews during projects.
  • Assist with proposals, scope development, labor estimates, scheduling, budgeting, and closeout of survey projects.
  • Prepare, oversee, and coordinate boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, construction staking, subdivision plats, Records of Survey, and control networks.
  • Prepare and review legal descriptions for properties, roads, easements, rights-of-way, and related survey documents.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D (with survey database), Trimble Business Center, GNSS workflows, and other survey technologies to support accurate project delivery.
  • Collaborate with in-house engineers, project managers, and other survey professionals across J-U-B’s offices.
  • Assist with client relationships, meetings, agency coordination, and business development opportunities.
  • Represent company to outside agencies, clients, and project partners in a professional manner.
  • Travel to survey sites and other J-U-B offices as needed.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Current Idaho Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License; or current PLS licensure in another state with the ability to obtain Idaho licensure within 6 months.
  • 8-15+ years of survey experience preferred, including demonstrated experience managing survey projects and coordinating with project teams.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
  • Experience effectively managing multiple, complex survey projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to mentor, coordinate, and support survey team members.
  • Proven client interfacing skills and interest in developing long‑term client relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with engineers, project managers, field crews, agencies, and clients.
  • Willing to work in inclement weather and all types of terrain, when field work is required.
  • Additional beneficial experience includes:
  • Operating drones for topographic surveying and processing the resulting data
  • Operating and processing LiDAR scanning equipment and data
  • Geodetic control networks
  • Bathymetric surveying, transportation/right‑of‑way surveys, and municipal infrastructure projects
