Job Description

This Survey Technician role focuses on supporting land surveying, engineering, and construction projects by performing precise field work, survey computations, and CAD drafting. You will consult with clients, lead field crews, and contribute to accurate data collection and documentation that guide critical design and construction decisions.

Responsibilities

• Consult with clients to understand their needs, project requirements, and expectations for survey deliverables.
• Assist with preparing comprehensive project proposals, including scope, schedule, and resource needs.
• Support budget management activities to help ensure projects are completed efficiently and within financial targets.
• Lead field crews during survey operations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency in all tasks performed on site.
• Conduct thorough deed and survey research and review to inform project planning and decision-making.
• Perform field work associated with land surveying, engineering, and construction projects, including equipment setup, data collection, and quality control checks.
• Utilize CAD software, including Civil 3D, to prepare precise drawings, plans, and survey documents.
• Perform survey computations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring data integrity and alignment with project requirements.
• Use GPS, total station, and related survey instruments to collect and verify field data.
• Travel to various project sites, including buildings and open land where new facilities are being designed and constructed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, process mechanical, and technology professionals.
• Maintain organized records of field notes, survey data, and project documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of survey processes and standards to support high-quality project delivery.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of field surveying experience, including setup, data collection, and quality control.
• Hands-on field surveying experience with construction projects, including layout and verification activities.
• Proficiency using GPS equipment for land and construction surveying.
• Experience operating total station instruments for precise measurements.
• Demonstrated ability to perform field surveying tasks such as instrument setup, stakeout, data collection, and field verification.
• Experience conducting construction surveying in the field on active project sites.
• Ability to perform accurate survey computations and apply them to field and office tasks.
• Proficiency with CAD software, including Civil 3D, for preparing survey drawings and documents.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality control.
• Ability to lead and coordinate field crews effectively in a variety of site conditions.
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work 40+ hours per week based on project needs and deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to different project sites.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in the field, traveling to various project sites where buildings and other facilities are being designed and constructed, including open land and active construction areas. The role involves regular use of survey equipment such as GPS units, total stations, and related instruments, as well as CAD software like Civil 3D in an office setting for data processing and drawing preparation. Expect a full-time schedule of approximately 40 or more hours per week, depending on project demands. A truck is provided for travel to job sites, and fuel costs for site travel are covered. You will operate within a multidisciplinary project environment that integrates architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, process mechanical, and technology solutions across a variety of industries. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maumee, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
