Survey Supervisor / Survey and Mapping Office
This position supervises and develops employees by communicating, motivating, training, and evaluating performance, while planning and directing work to meet production and quality goals. It oversees the development, maintenance, and customer support of Survey processing, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), and Right of Way mapping applications, serving as a technical advisor and chairing the Surveying and Mapping Technical Advisory Committee. The role includes managing geospatial CADD applications, consulting with users to ensure functionality, coordinating with production support, testing and evaluating hardware/software, and providing ongoing training. Additionally, it assists the Surveying and Mapping Manager with annual quality assurance reviews, operates specialized software to review projects, prepares training courses, coordinates district-wide training, and supports contract negotiations, staff hour estimation, project scheduling, and quality assurance of reports.

Survey and Mapping Office
Supervises employees by communicating with them, motivating, training, and evaluating them, and by planning and directing their work. This includes assigning work, assessing production requirements, establishing production goals, establishing quality control standards or measures, developing employees through training, and completing performance reviews. Supervises team in the development, maintenance, and customer support of Survey processing, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), and Right of Way mapping applications. Serve as a CADD applications Surveyor. Develop, implement, and manage geospatial CADD applications used in location survey and right-of-way mapping production. This includes production assistance for both Department and consultant CADD users. Consult with surveyors and mappers who use CADD applications and other software to ensure the functionality, relationships, and graphics requirements are met as intended. Coordinate with Production Support CADD section and serve as technical advisor and chairman of the Surveying and Mapping Technical Advisory Committee. Report committee activities to management as required and report support activities in the CADD problem log. Assist with the testing and evaluation of hardware and software related to surveying and mapping, including performance and compatibility evaluations. Make recommendations based on evaluations and testing. Provide support and regular training for CADD hardware and software.
Assist the Surveying and Mapping Manager in performing annual Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR) of the District's current surveying and mapping projects. Operate specialized software to review and report on Surveying and Mapping projects. Prepare and follow procedures to evaluate the accuracy and integrity of Survey products. Produce topographic, R/W, and other surveying and mapping products from survey data.
Prepare formal training courses for Department staff in Surveying and Mapping methods and technologies. Assist in coordinating District-wide training for Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Surveyors.
Assist in Contract negotiations, Staff Hours Estimation, and Project Scheduling. Assist in preparing project scope, proposals, and reports. Perform Quality Assurance of Surveying and Mapping Reports.
