Monthly Pay: $3,721 - $5,558 USD per month
Summary:
This role reviews survey responses and summarizes what they show. Clear findings help project teams understand respondent experiences and identify questions that need further research. This contract position sits within a research team and works under a research team lead. It works with survey coordinators, researchers, and project contacts to resolve response questions. The position is fully remote and desk-based, with work from home in Alabama, United States. The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive assigned survey research requests through a shared work queue and email, then confirm the study purpose, instructions, expected output, and review deadline.
- Read approved questionnaires and study guidance before reviewing responses, noting question wording, response options, sampling instructions, and any stated exclusions that affect interpretation.
- Use a Survey such as Alchemer to locate assigned response sets, check completion status, and review answers against the study's written review criteria.
- Check responses for missing answers, duplicate submissions, inconsistent selections, and unclear comments without changing the meaning of what respondents provided or filling gaps yourself.
- Record review results, response categories, and unresolved questions in the assigned study tracker so another researcher can understand each decision and its source.
- Apply approved categories to open responses and prepare simple counts or cross tabulations using provided templates, keeping different respondent groups clearly separated.
- Find and summarize recurring themes, common answers, and unusual response patterns, distinguishing direct observations from interpretations that need further review by experienced researchers.
- Follow up with survey coordinators when instructions or response labels are unclear, and elevate unresolved discrepancies or unexpected patterns to the research team lead.
- Prepare concise research summaries with supporting counts, response limitations, and clearly labeled source references, then submit completed work for review and requested corrections.
- Meet quality expectations through accurate categorization, timely turnaround, complete review notes, and documented follow-up; update summaries after feedback and confirm that outstanding questions are resolved.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required; related experience with survey responses, research support, or structured data entry is preferred.
- Basic understanding of questionnaires, response options, respondent groups, and the difference between a finding and an assumption.
- Ability to follow sampling instructions and recognize that incomplete responses can limit how findings are interpreted.
- Comfort learning survey software, navigating response tables, and using templates for simple counts and cross tabulations.
- Clear written communication for concise summaries, specific follow-up questions, and accurate explanations of unresolved response issues.
- Ability to handle respondent information carefully and follow established access and sharing instructions throughout assigned research work.
- A reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace; availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Fully remote work focused on desk-based survey review, research summaries, and coordination with the research team.
- Structured onboarding and training on a Survey such as Alchemer, study instructions, response review methods, and reporting templates.
- Regular check-ins with the research team lead to discuss assignments, clarify expectations, and review feedback on completed summaries.
- Opportunities to build survey methodology, response categorization, sampling awareness, cross tabulation, and concise research reporting skills through assigned work.
Benefits:
- Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), bonus opportunities, and stipends.
