Job summary

Dewberry invites an energetic Professional Surveyor – Land Development to join our Orlando, FL or Panama City, FL offices. Remote, hybrid and onsite options are available for the right candidate.

You will work with survey leadership on diverse land surveying and civil engineering tasks while overseeing project survey elements, training staff, and coordinating schedules and budgets. This role demands strong client relationships and technical proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Florida PLS license or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional land surveying experience including project management.
  • Degree in Surveying (AAS/BS) is preferred.
  • Proven track record building client relationships in surveying/mapping.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with boundary surveys and ALTA/ACSM land title surveys.
  • Data reduction and processing of field files and topographic surveys.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Ability to work out of town if required; flexible with work area.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license; pass drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Southeast offices and teams.
  • Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and prepare survey plans.
  • Train field staff in land surveying procedures.
  • Prepare weekly survey crew schedules.
  • Coordinate with Sunshine One Call and local utilities.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Prepare proposals and contracts.
  • Manage and coordinate projects with multiple team members.
  • Prepare ROW plans and agreements.
  • CAD oversight and quality assurance.
  • Perform survey computations and data collection.
  • Perform field work related to land surveying, engineering and construction.

Job description

Dewberry is looking for an energetic Professional Surveyor – Land Development to work collaboratively with survey leadership on a variety of tasks associated with land surveying and civil engineering in our Orlando, FL or Panama City, FL office. Remote, hybrid and onsite opportunities are available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Consult with clients.
  • Strengthen the vision of Florida survey operations by partnering with our leadership team to provide direction and guidance to the Sarasota survey office.
  • Collaborate proactively and productively with other groups and offices across the Southeast operating unit.
  • Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and/or direct preparation of all types of survey plans.
  • Train field staff in land surveying procedures.
  • Prepare weekly survey crew schedules.
  • Coordinate with Sunshine One Call and local utility providers.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets & deliverables.
  • Prepare proposals and contracts.
  • Manage and coordinate projects with multiple team members.
  • Prepare ROW plans and agreements.
  • CAD oversight and quality assurance.
  • Perform survey computations and data collection.
  • Perform field work associated with land surveying, engineering and construction projects.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Florida or ability to obtain Florida PLS within six months.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in all aspects of land surveying, including project management experience.
  • AAS or BS Degree in Surveying is preferred.
  • A successful track record of building client relationships in the surveying and related mapping industry.
  • Effective team building skills.
  • Experience with FDOT is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • Experienced in all aspects of Land Surveying (Land Development a plus).
  • Perform Boundary Surveys & ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys & As-built plans.
  • Data reduction and processing of field files, topographic surveys, etc.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Business Center (GPS processing) and AutoCAD Civil 3D software a plus.
  • Have the ability to work out of town if required, flexible with work area.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to maintain a valid driver's license in order to operate company vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screening.
