Job summary

Dewberry Engineers Incorporated is seeking a Survey Project Manager to collaborate with survey leadership on diverse tasks related to land surveying and civil engineering. The role will be based in either our Gainesville, VA or Richmond, VA office.

The successful candidate will coordinate projects, consult clients, and oversee various survey operations, contributing to significant civil engineering projects. Applicants need a Virginia PLS or the ability to obtain it within six months, alongside a minimum of 10 years of experience in land surveying.

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in all aspects of land surveying.
  • LSIT required.

Job description

Overview

Survey Project Manager to work collaboratively with survey leadership on a variety of tasks associated with land surveying and civil engineering in our Gainesville, VA or Richmond, VA office.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate projects with multiple team members.
  • Consult with clients.
  • Strengthen the vision of Virginia survey operations by partnering with our leadership team to provide direction and guidance to the Gainesville/Richmond survey office.
  • Collaborate proactively and productively with other groups and offices across the Mid-Atlantic operating unit.
  • Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and/or direct preparation of all types of survey plans.
  • Train field staff in land surveying procedures.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets & deliverables.
  • Prepare proposals and contracts.
  • Prepare Easement plats, Study Maps, Boundary Surveys, and ALTA surveys.
  • Prepare route studies, perform courthouse research and deed analysis.
  • CAD oversight and quality assurance.
  • Perform survey computations, data collection, and cut sheet generation.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Virginia or ability to obtain Virginia PLS within six months.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in all aspects of land surveying, including project management experience.
  • AAS or BS Degree in Surveying is preferred.
  • LSIT required.
  • A successful track record of building client relationships in the surveying and related mapping industry.
  • Effective team building skills.
  • Experience with transportation and utility infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • Experienced in all aspects of Land Surveying (Land Development a plus).
  • Perform Boundary Surveys & ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys & As-built plans.
  • Data reduction and processing of field files, topographic surveys, etc.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Business Center (GPS processing) and AutoCAD Civil 3D software a plus.
  • Ability to work out of town if required, and flexible with work area.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to maintain a valid driver\'s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screening.
