Job summary

ESP Associates is seeking a Survey Project Manager in Fort Mill, SC to oversee all aspects of the surveying and geomatics group, guiding field crews, staff, and projects from planning through completion.

The role emphasizes strong client relationships, project leadership, and the delivery of high‑quality land development work for public and private sector clients within a multidisciplinary firm.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina and/or South Carolina (preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in surveying management in residential/commercial development preferred.
• Experience with survey computations and platting using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS; field experience with Trimble equipment.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Google Earth; IT knowledge a plus.
• Thorough working knowledge of GPS.

• Build and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and representatives to support business development.
• Lead and supervise survey crews, technicians, and staff to ensure efficient operations and quality delivery.

As a Survey Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of surveying operations, including field crews, technical staff, project management, and client relationships. This is a great opportunity for an experienced surveying professional to lead and grow a team while managing a diverse portfolio of public and private sector land improvement projects within a dynamic and growing Engineering, Surveying, and Planning firm.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the surveying and geomatics group, including field operations, office personnel, and technical staff supporting public and private sector land improvement projects.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and organizational representatives to support business development and ongoing project success.
• Lead, organize, and supervise survey crews, technicians, and supporting staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality project delivery.
• Manage contracts and oversee projects from planning through completion, including coordinating assignments, allocating resources, and establishing schedules to meet project deadlines.
• Lead the planning and development of complex surveying projects, addressing unique technical challenges through research, problem-solving, and innovative approaches.

Qualifications:

• Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina and/or South Carolina (preferred).
• 5 or more years of progressive experience in surveying management in residential/commercial development preferred.
• Candidate will be expected to possess strong self-motivational and organizational skills, experience with survey computations and platting using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS as well as field experience with Trimble Survey field equipment.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Google Earth and IT a plus.
• Thorough working knowledge of GPS required.
• Candidate must pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy.
