Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Biddeford, Maine, seeks an experienced Survey Project Manager to lead a Survey/Geospatial team on dynamic land surveying projects. You will manage projects from kickoff through delivery, oversee budgets and schedules, and mentor staff while strengthening client relationships.

The role combines hands-on technical leadership with business-minded project management to deliver accurate data and high-quality outcomes for clients and communities.

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years in land surveying or related field.
  • Experience managing construction staking projects and crews.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry with adaptability to client needs.
  • Valid driver’s license; licensure preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation.
  • Strong written and verbal English communications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare effective work plans and labor budgets for approval by the Department Manager.
  • Monitor schedules and budgets on projects to satisfy the client and control work and productivity.
  • Prepare advanced engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Coordinate/Prepare As-built submittals for the client at the end of each project.
  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
  • Oversee the work and productivity of assigned projects.
  • Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
  • Work under short deadlines to meet construction demands
  • Participates in formulating and coordinating proposals and provides other Marketing support, including Business Development.
  • Identify the project team, work packages and tasks, evaluation methods, productivity targets, schedule of deliverables, and manpower needed on projects.
  • Hold team meetings to ensure procedures governing project review and approval are followed prior to submitting completed work.
  • Negotiate with clients on scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules subject to supervisors' approval.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates.
  • Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-determined goal.
  • Ensure everyone involved is working in accordance with all project planning and profit control procedures.
  • Ensure that all scope revisions affecting the project schedule and/or budget are discussed with the client.
  • Solicit help and involvement from Department Managers and other managers to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Works efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to clients.
  • Mentor junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced and driven Survey Project Manager to join our Survey/Geospatial team in Biddeford, Maine.

In this high-impact role, you will lead a talented mix of field and office professionals on dynamic land surveying projects that shape communities, support infrastructure, and deliver the precise data clients rely on to move projects forward with confidence. You will manage projects from kickoff through delivery, oversee budgets and schedules, coordinate staff and resources, strengthen client relationships, and champion quality at every stage.   • Mentor junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years in land surveying or related field.
  • Prior experience managing construction staking projects and crews.
  • Has experience in (or understanding of) the construction industry and can redirect efforts as needed to meet the client's demands.
  • Professional licensure in related field is preferred but notrequired.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Proficient with Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation (as applicable).
  • Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate extensive, diversified, and complex knowledge of survey/engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate advanced investigative, analytical, and research skills.
  • Coordinates the work activities for multiple functions to ensure satisfying delivery. Responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle: planning, scope definition, design, execution, and delivery.
  • Ability to effectively perform as a key team leader (demonstrate collaboration and respect for others; contribute; lead by example, etc.).
  • Demonstrate advanced technical and non-technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to comprehend written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
  • Tracks progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators and prepares reports to senior management.
  • Assists with selecting, negotiating, and managing all activities regarding external clients.

Compensation: $98,400 to $144,900 per year (depending on qualifications)
