Job summary

LHH is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations across commercial, infrastructure, transportation, and development projects in the Virginia Beach region. You will supervise crews, operate modern survey equipment, and serve as the field point person, ensuring safety, data quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of land surveying experience, prior crew chief work, and strong leadership and communication skills to mentor junior staff and coordinate

Qualifications

• 5+ years of land surveying experience preferred.
• Experience as Survey Crew Chief or Party Chief.
• Strong leadership and field management skills.
• Experience with construction layout, boundary, and topographic surveys.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage survey field crews on active projects.
• Perform boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
• Operate GPS, GNSS, total stations, and data collectors.
• Coordinate daily field activities and project priorities.
• Ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of field data.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, contractors, and office staff.
• Maintain safety standards and company procedures.
• Train and mentor junior crew members.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of land surveying experience preferred
• Previous experience as a Survey Crew Chief or Party Chief
• Strong leadership and field management skills
• Experience with construction layout, boundary, and topographic surveys
• Ability to read plans, plats, and survey documents
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
